Reiki is an alternative therapy that aims to manipulate the body's energy for promoting healing and relaxation. It was developed in Japan during the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, a Buddhist monk. The term 'Reiki' originates from the Japanese words "rei" meaning universal, and "ki" representing life energy or vital force.
